Picnics from 7/13/26 till 8/16/26

St. Eulalia Parish

Summer Festival

214 Blue Shutters Rod

Elmhurst,PA

July 17 & 18, 2026

This is a typical picnic. Not very exciting. Parking is usually tight in the lot. I have trouble going down the hill to get to the picnic grounds because I walk with a cane. The food is decent. The staff in the food tent are some what inefficient. The bands are not exciting. Hopefully they stopped using those smelly citronella candles on the tables. You would leave with your shirt stinking like citronella. The last time I was there they started using those annoying food tickets. You had to buy them in quantities of $5. I highly doubt that I will go this year.

Communion of Saints Parish

Pittston Summer Picnic on the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Grounds

237 William St. Pittston, PA

July 16, 17 and 18, 2026

Join us for the Best of Greater Pittston 2025 Summer Picnic on the Church Grounds at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 237 William Street. This annual event will feature ethnic foods – including cannoli, homemade pizza, sausage and peppers, pizza fritta and more – kids games, live music from favorite local bands including Bugeye McGuire, Flaxy Morgan and The Taxmen, our annual favorite Big Beautiful Basket Raffle, huge indoor flea market and so much more!

This is a nice smaller picnic. They have plenty of seating. The bands are good. Usually there is parking at the gas station. Air conditioned indoor rest rooms. The food is decent and reasonably priced. Walk around with your beer. The bad thing is they still use those very annoying food tickets. I will probably be there Thursday.

WWHC's Corn & Clam Slam is a fundraising event sponsored by William Walker Hose Company offering great food and beverages, and the best bands in NEPA. NO COVER CHARGE! The fireman's parade is on Saturday July 18. This is a decent picnic. Not a great picnic. The food is good. The bands are decent. The beer tent is huge and hot. Parking is very tight. I usually can find a spot at the baseball field. They have some seating but could use more.

Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company

Annual Picnic

Route 106 Clifford, PA

July 23 - 25, 2026

This is one of the best of the season. The food is great and varied. The roast beef is the best. The parade is on Thursday July 23. They have fireworks on Friday and Saturday. An excellent fireworks show. But used to be even better when it was fired electronically. Plenty of seating. Vintage rides for the children. The chain saw artist will be there. Plenty of free parking including handicap parking. Where else can you enjoy an ice cold beer and take a chance on a hunting rifle at the same time. The bands are local but decent. Usually a DJ in the bar. Yes it is a long drive from Scranton but it is well worth the trip. Don't miss this great picnic.

Christ the King Parish

Parish Picnic

Corner of Betty and Main St. Eynon, PA

July 24 - 26, 2026

This is a nice local picnic. The food is good and reasonably priced. The lines at the food tent can be long. They have a small beer tent. The potato pancakes are excellent but the line is long. The bands are usually very good. They have seating but could use way more seating. My biggest complaint is the lack of parking. Lately I have been able to find a spot at the shopping plaza on Main. It is worth the visit. Just a short drive from Scranton.

St. Joseph's Center

Summer Festival

Grounds of Marywood College

Scranton, PA

July 24 - 26, 2026

We are happy to announce that this is the 29th Anniversary of the Go Joe Bike Ride! We are forever grateful to Joe Snedeker and WNEP for all the miles, friendships and great memories thanks to the Go Joe Bike Ride. Each year, Joe pedals hundreds of miles, within and beyond WNEP’s viewing area to raise critical funds for important resources for individuals and families served by Saint Joseph’s Center.

This is one of the best of the season. The food is great and varied. They have games for the children and adults. Watch Corny Joe arrive from his bike ride. He is very annoying but what he does for St. Joe's is great. Watch the telethon live on Friday and Saturday. There is no entertainment but it is not needed. They have some seating but could use a lot more. You can ride the shuttle school bus from the parking lot to the picnic grounds. Which can be adventure with some people trying to fit a baby carriage on a narrow school bus. Excellent picnic which supports a great cause, Don't miss this one.

The roast beef is very good. Enjoyable bands. Parking is tight. I usually park at the donut shop which costs $5 but it worth it. Don't have fireworks any more. Dickson City Days

Grounds of the Eagle Hose Company

1 Eagle Lane Dickson City, PA

July 31 and August 1, 2026

Parade Saturday at 6 pm

Dickson City Days will be celebrated on Friday, July 31st, and Saturday, August 1st, at the Eagle Hose Co #1 grounds. The community event features family-friendly activities, including the annual Fireman's Parade, a rubber duck race hosted by the Dickson City Civic Center, food vendors, and live entertainment.

This is a small local somewhat boring event. Last year it was only one day. It used to be at Bernard Seminski park. At the old location it was a relaxing event with fireworks on Saturday. At the new location. The food was decent. They had some seating but could use more. The marching polka band was the highlight of the parade. They had some parking. Not enough. Not sure if I will go this year. Depends what else is happening. It benefits the fire company and area non profits.

Germania Hose Company

Annual Picnic and carnival

430 Foote Ave, Duryea, PA

July 30 through August 2

This is a decent picnic. Not a great picnic anymore. Used to be much better before they started using food tickets. The bands are poor to very good. The food is good. The potato pancakes are excellent. The pizza is excellent. They have some seating but could use much more. Open beer tent. Big basket raffle. Fireworks on Sunday. Rides for the children. Parking is free in a huge lot. Some handicapped parking. I will add more information when it becomes available. If they get rid of the annoying food tickets (If you don't trust your volunteers, don't have the picnic) and get better bands I would increase their rating back to five stars like it used to be many years ago.

This is definitely one of the best of the season. The food is great and reasonably priced. The bands are great. You can walk around with your beer. They have plenty of seating. The offer a free shuttle from their other church locations to the picnic grounds. Which is great. More information as it becomes available. Don't miss this one because it is one of the best.

St. Joseph Melkite Greek Catholic Church

130 N. Cabrini Avenue Scranton, PA

Lebanese American Food Festival

August 7 - 9, 2026

I haven't been to this event in several years because of scheduling conflicts. I am going to try and attend this year. I remember the food was delicious. The volunteers were friendly and helpful. The prices were reasonable. Plenty of parking on Jackson St. A short walk from the picnic. I remember a smaller very nice picnic. Since I haven't been there in several years. I will not rate this time. I will try to attend Sunday afternoon.

Communion of Saints Parish

Summer Fest 26

held at St. John the Evangelist Church

35 William St. Pittston, PA

August 6 - 8, 2026

This used to be the St. John the Evangelist picnic. Since they merged with the parish on the top of William St. They are having 2 picnics this year. Years ago it was a much larger picnic. Now it is a small local picnic. Not very exciting. The food is decent and reasonably priced. The bands are usually decent. There is a large indoor bingo and flea market. There is no beer tent. There is parking in the lot across the street. No handicapped parking. They have plenty of seating. They use those very annoying food tickets. Like I said many times. If you cannot trust your volunteers then don't have the picnic. I am not sure if I will make it this year, but if I do it will probably be Thursday when the crowds are usually smaller.

NO FOOD TICKETS! They got rid of food tickets years ago. The entertainment is fair. Parking on Sunday can be tight on the church grounds with limited handicapped parking. Wayne County Fair

270 Miller Drive

RTE. 191 North

Honesdale, PA 18431

August 7 - 15, 2026

Click here to go to the Wayne County Fair website

It’s hard to believe that 164 years ago, the Wayne County Agriculture Society became a chartered organization and laid the groundwork for the Wayne County Fair as we know it today. In 1862, the first order of business was to find enough land to host events and to hold enough patrons. Twenty two acres of land was purchased along the Dyberry river and the construction of a half-mile long track began. In 1902, the fair outgrew the speed-trial track and moved their events to a larger grandstand. Eventually that grandstand would expand again in 1931 to house 2000 patrons, sixty concession stands, harness racing, livestock contests and concert events. All these years later, the Wayne County Fair sees nearly 100,000 visitors each summer and continues to be a family tradition where farm meets food and fun!

For me paying $12 admission is not worth it. Since I do not ride the rides. I went to this event twice in my life and both times was not impressed. The ride in from the parking lot to the gate on a hay wagon is bumpy at best. It is a typical fair. Not nearly as good as the Bloomsburg fair which is a great fair. The food is expensive. Some of the exhibits were interesting. Some of the free shows were ok. Unless you have children that like to ride the rides. It is not worth the trip and waste of gas. For a family maybe worth the price. I will not be attending this year.

Springbrook Fire Company

Annual Cow Flop and Picnic

Corner of Route 502 and 690

Springbrook Township

August 13 - 15, 2026

This is one of the better picnics. The food is good and reasonably priced. You can walk with your beer. The bands are usually decent. Better bands on Friday and Saturday. Huge indoor basket raffle. Large childrens area. Fun for both children and adults. Parking is very tight. Very limited handicapped parking. A short drive from Scranton. You can win big bucks if you pick the square where the cow takes a poo. I usually go on Thursday when it is not as crowded. A nice picnic that supports a great cause.
